U2 Singer Bono’s Ode to Mary

For the full article including the words of the song, click here. The article was written by my friend Tim Drake, staff writer for the National Catholic Register.

I just bought the new U2 album entitled No Line on the Horizon for my iPhone from iTunes and there are other good songs with Catholic themes. I have always liked U2 but even more when they do this kind of thing.

I took my oldest daughter Cindy to a U2 concert in Detroit when she was 7 years old (around 1984). Everyone looked at me like I was crazy. Hey, I raised my kids somewhat differently than most families and the result is in the pudding :-)

You can listen to Bono sing an Ode to Mary — based on the Magnificat — by clicking on the video below.

Interesting. I wouldn’t have guessed that was the song’s theme. I also love U2 and have since “War” came out, but I think “No Line on the Horizon” is overall one of their weakest efforts.

not being a world traveller, and only having seen video and images, I wonder where the video is shot – possibly the Alhambra? don’t know what to make of this juxtaposition if anything.
