Today I Have Been Married to Janet for 43 Years

by Steve Ray on December 4, 2019

It was the best thing I ever did — marrying that girl! I couldn’t have found a better friend, partner, lover, or mother for our children. I thank God for her every day. I have always written her parents on our anniversary to thank them for letting me marry their incredible daughter.

She reminds me of the passage in Proverbs 31:10-31. Here are a few excerpts:

A good wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. … Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”

Above is a picture of Janet and I at our wedding. Geez, time sure changes things — at least with me. Janet still looks pretty much the same — with an emphasis on pretty. Time sure flies! All our kids are now graduated, married and moved out and today we feel like we just got married again :-)

What a wonderful picture of you both and what a delightful witness of the Sacrament of marriage. Know you and your family are in my prayers.

Happy belated anniversary! God has truly blessed the both of you. 38 years. Wonderful! Next March, God willing, my wife and I will celebrate 30. I can attest, as you have above, that it is wonderful to have a faithful partner with whom to share my faith walk.

Congratulations to you both. I met your on a Footprints of Jesus tour of the Holy Lands in 2016. The trip of a lifetime and you were both a part of that experience, so thank you.. hope you enjoy at least 43 more years together.

Karen Mitchell December 4, 2019 at 4:27 PM

Congratulations, Steve and Janet! You are a great witness to marriage. Just got back from my Holy Land pilgrimage with you. It was incredible! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

By the look of the photo, you two must only be about 52 years old right now! Congratulations!

Congratulations Steve and Janet. I remember fondly meeting you when we came to London and spoke at Westminster Cathedral Hall at the meeting I helped to organise.

Very best wishes to you both.
