I have been invited by the Regina Apostolorum University to teach a series of classes on apologetics. Janet and I leave on Thursday and the classes run from Monday, April 20 – Friday, April 25. You can see the brochure in English and Italian. I have spoken at the university three times in the past few years but this whole week of teaching classes is very exciting.
I am really looking forward to helping the students, seminarians, priests and others learn how to better defend the Catholic faith with good biblical content, humor, and conviction. Many of them will be serving in developing countries racked by Protestant sects and cults, many exported from the United States. They need to know the ropes. How to confront the sects and cults and to demonstrate the truth of Catholicism from Scripture.

Whenever I’ve spoken to large audiences in the Philippines I’ve reminded them (as I will these students in Rome) of the time I was the only Catholic sitting in a classroom full of Baptist pastors and missionaries learning Logos Bible Software power tools. I asked the man next to me, “What do you do?” He said, “I am a missionary to the Philippines.” “Oh,” I said, “What do you do there?” He responded, “They are all Catholic there so I help them get saved and born again.”

He asked me, “What do you do?” I answered, “I am also a missionary to the Philippines!” He asked, “What do you do there?” I responded, “I teach them how to defend themselves against guys like you!”
Sharing our Catholic faith and teaching others to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints” (Jude 3) is a great joy for me! I look forward to gazing out over an auditorium full of eager eyes and alert minds. This will be a great joy for me. I will keep you updated as the trip unfolds.
